Philadelphia Eagles de facto general manager Howie Roseman has been blunt throughout the offseason about his plan to continue sculpting the roster, even nfl jerseys authentic with the initial wave of free agency and an eventful NFL draft in the rearview.

Wednesday, Roseman put that sentiment into action the Eagles agreed to sign veteran running back LeGarrette Blount to a one cheap nfl jerseys authentic china year contract that could alter the outlook of the offense in 2017.

The Eagles weren't shy about their desire to find a three down running back this offseason, and they didn't have one coming out of the draft. Blount enters the fold as a 250 pound ball carrier who can handle a hefty load or serve as a short yardage specialist; the former Oregon Duck led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns for the Patriots in 2016.

Here's a look at three quick thoughts regarding the Eagles' decision to bring in Blount:

1) The Eagles needed red zone help, and they got it

The Birds ranked 24th out of 32 NFL teams last season in red zone efficiency, scoring touchdowns on just 49.1 percent of their possessions inside the opponent's 20 yard line. Running back Ryan Mathews (8 rushing touchdowns) was the only Eagles player to find success near the goal line last season, and he's unlikely to return in 2017 after undergoing neck surgery.

Blount's greatest Cheap NFL Tom Brady jerseys value as a bruising back comes in short yardage situations. His career best 18 touchdowns for the Super Bowl champion Pats provide evidence of that.

And the addition of the bulky back stands as just one reason the Eagles are positioned to see improved success near the goal line in 2017 Philly also added big bodied wide receiver Alshon Jeffery in free agency, meaning quarterback Carson Wentz will enter the season with sparkling new red zone options on the ground and through the air.

2) Philly will still lean on a committee approach at running back

Blount was a workhorse for the Patriots last season, but he likely won't shoulder as much responsibility in Philadelphia.

While the 30 year old racked up a career high 299 carries for the Patriots last season, he hasn't typically taken on such large responsibilities; he hadn't totaled more than 200 rushing attempts in a season since his record year in 2010.

And the Eagles are built to rotate backs. Last season, Mathews only piled up 155 carries, while coaches mixed in Wendell Smallwood, Darren Sproles and Kenjon Barner.

With Smallwood and Sproles still on the roster and fourth round pick Donnel Pumphrey champing at the bit for an opportunity, the Eagles can continue using a committee approach this season.

3) The Eagles might be planning to contend in 2018 and beyond, but they aren't ignoring 2017

Since drafting Wentz No. 2 overall in 2016, the Eagles have tried to strike a balance of building a team that peaks when their young signal caller does, while still fielding competitive rosters in the meantime.

Blount's arrival fits the plan Roseman laid out. He fills Wholesale Aaron Rodgers Jerseys a need for 2017 and provides Wentz with an extra playmaker, but his one year deal won't handcuff the Birds as they try to construct a long term contender.

Philadelphia will have to see if the approach pays off in 2017 and beyond.

But knowing Roseman, the team won't sit back and observe. And there's no guarantee the Eagles are done crafting the roster they'll bring into training camp this summer.
